Contra indications and precautions

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy can not be used if you have any of the following;

  • Agammaglobulinaemia/Cryoglobulinaema 
  • Collagen vascular disease/Auto Immune disease or disorders –causes chronic inflammation of connective tissues. There are many examples including Lupus and Scleroderma
  • Kidney dialysis 
  • Diabetes- Poorly controlled or suffered from a diabetic ulcer
  • Immunotherapy treatment/Immuno suppression/Multiple Myeloma - cancer treatment last 6m or taking immunosuppressant medication 
  • Temperal Arteritis - An inflammatory reaction (such as achieved during cryotherapy treatment) may cause this to happen
  • Pyoderma Gangrenosum - necrotic condition causing deep ulcers
  • Raynauds Disease/Cold Urticaria - extreme reaction to cold, could be subject to formation of necrotic tissue and poor healing/development if itchy red rash in the area (hives)
  • Dermal Fillers -Treatment area only, may produce a denting or pitting of filler
  • Aids, Hepatitis B, C etc.
  • Platelet Deficiency Diseases -Any condition which causes a reduction in platelets in the blood e.g. thrombocytopaenia
  • Pregnancy
  • Keloid scars
  • Blood thinning agents - Bruising/may not respond to treatment
  • Active Rosacea in area to be treated.


Precautions

  • Diabetes (skin is slower to heal) – well controlled only
  • Sunburn – wait until cleared
  • Pigment disorders or ethnic skin colouration – risk of pale re-pigmentation
  • Immunocompromised – risk of delayed healing

Advanced Electrolysis

Advanced Electrolysis can not be used if you have any of the following;


  • Skin diseases or disorders – Dermographia – causes hives when skin scratched or rubbed
  • Cochlear implants
  • Diabetes- Poorly controlled or suffered from a diabetic ulcer
  • Aids, Hepatitis B, C etc. 
  • Hypersensitive skin
  • Varicose veins, area of lesion
  • Thrombosis (check suitability with doctor)
  • Blood disorders (e.g. haemophilia)
  • Pacemaker
  • Epilepsy
  • Oedema, site area
  • Pregnancy
  • Keloid scar
  • Platelet Deficiency Diseases -Any condition which causes a reduction in platelets in the blood e.g. thrombocytopaenia
  • Active Rosacea in area to be treated


Precautions

  • Infections and inflammations (including ingrown hairs and eyes) – do not treat until cleared
  • Blood thinning agents - risk of bleeding/bruising
  • Cuts, bruises, abrasions – do not treat until cleared
  • Diabetes (skin is slower to heal) – well controlled only
  • Recent piercings and tattoos -- allow 6 weeks
  • Recent surgery, scar tissue or laser treatments/micro-dermabrasion - allow 6-weeks
  • Sunburn – wait until cleared
  • Pigment disorders or ethnic skin colouration – risk of pale re-pigmentation
  • Immunocompromised – risk of delayed healing
