Warts are a common viral skin condition caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear anywhere on the body, most frequently on the hands, feet, face, and neck. Although warts are generally harmless and often painless, they can become uncomfortable, spread over time, and cause cosmetic concern or embarrassment.

Common warts are one of the most frequently seen types of viral warts. They appear as firm, raised growths with a rough, textured surface, often resembling a small cauliflower. They are typically grey, yellowish, or light brown in colour and range from a few millimetres to larger lesions.

Cryotherapy is often used to freeze and destroy the wart tissue, allowing the body to naturally eliminate it over time.

Plantar warts, also known as verrucas, develop on the soles of the feet. Due to pressure from walking or standing, they are often flattened and can become painful or uncomfortable.

They may contain small black dots, which are tiny clotted blood vessels within the wart.

A more extensive form, known as mosaic verrucas, occurs when multiple warts cluster together and fuse into a larger affected area.

Cryotherapy works by freezing the infected tissue, gradually destroying the virus-infected cells so the body can clear the wart naturally.

Filiform warts are long, narrow, thread-like growths that extend from the skin surface. They typically measure 1–2 mm in length and may appear skin-coloured, pink, brown, or yellow. Unlike other wart types, filiform warts often occur as single lesions rather than clusters.

• Around the eyes or mouth

• Advanced electrolysis

Advanced electrolysis allows precise, targeted removal of filiform warts in a single treatment, making it ideal for delicate facial areas.

Cryotherapy is a highly effective treatment that uses extreme cold to freeze wart tissue. As warts are viral in nature, more than one session is often required for optimal results.

• Typically requires at least two wart treatment sessions
• Blistering after treatment is normal and part of the healing process
• When multiple warts are present, the largest is treated first
• Smaller warts often resolve within 4–6 weeks after follow-up treatment

Advanced electrolysis provides immediate removal of filiform warts by delivering controlled heat energy directly into the lesion.

• A small scab may form and should be left to heal naturally
• Healing typically occurs over several days
• A follow-up appointment may be recommended after 4 weeks if any regrowth occurs
