Moles, also known as naevi, are common skin growths that can vary in size, shape, colour and texture. While most moles are harmless, many people choose to have raised or prominent moles reduced or removed for cosmetic reasons or because they catch on clothing, jewellery or during shaving.

Not all moles are suitable for cosmetic treatment. Before any mole reduction or removal can be considered, the mole must be confirmed as benign (non-cancerous).
If you have noticed any recent changes in size, shape, colour, texture, bleeding, itching or irregular borders, medical assessment should be sought before treatment. JL Clinical works in partnership with Map My Mole, allowing clients to access professional mole screening and assessment where appropriate. Alternatively, assessment can be obtained through your GP or dermatologist.

Benign mole reduction and removal can significantly improve the appearance and comfort of raised or prominent moles. Depending on the size and depth of the mole, treatment may reduce its appearance gradually or remove it completely over a series of sessions. Following treatment, mild redness, temporary scabbing and healing of the treated area are normal. As the skin heals, the area typically becomes smoother and less noticeable, helping to improve confidence and comfort.

Most clients experience only mild discomfort during treatment. Local anaesthetic may be used where appropriate to improve comfort.
Most treated areas heal well, although there is always a small risk of scarring with any skin procedure. Following aftercare advice carefully helps support the best cosmetic outcome.
Successfully treated moles are unlikely to return. However, some deeper or larger moles may require more than one treatment session to achieve the desired result.

During your consultation, I will assess the mole, review any previous screening or medical assessments, discuss treatment suitability and answer any questions you may have.
