Warts and verrucae are common viral skin lesions caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can develop on the hands, feet, face and other areas of the body and may become uncomfortable, persistent or affect confidence, particularly when located in visible areas.
At JL Clinical, I offer safe and effective wart and verruca removal using cryotherapy and advanced electrolysis, depending on the type, size and location of the lesion. Cryotherapy is available for adults and children aged 7 years and over, while advanced electrolysis may be suitable for adults and young people aged 14 years and over depending on the type and location of the wart. Based in Hawarden, Flintshire, I welcome clients from Chester, North Wales and the surrounding areas seeking professional treatment for common warts, plantar verrucae and facial warts.
Warts and verrucae are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which infects the outer layer of the skin. The virus can enter through tiny breaks in the skin and may spread through direct contact or shared surfaces such as swimming pools, changing rooms and gym facilities. While some warts disappear naturally over time, others can persist for months or even years without treatment.

Many warts and verrucae respond very well to treatment, although because they are caused by a virus, more than one session is generally required. Cryotherapy is often effective for common warts and verrucae, while advanced electrolysis may be recommended for stubborn warts or certain facial warts where immediate removal is preferred. Following treatment, mild redness, tenderness, blistering or scabbing may occur as part of the normal healing process. As the area heals, the wart gradually reduces and healthy skin is restored.
Warts can develop on many areas of the body, including the hands, fingers, face and feet. Whether you are seeking treatment for a common wart, a facial wart or a painful verruca, treatment can be tailored to the type and location of the lesion. Early treatment may help to prevent further spread and improve both comfort and appearance.
Most clients experience only mild discomfort during treatment. Cryotherapy can cause a brief stinging sensation, while advanced electrolysis may cause temporary warmth or discomfort in the treated area.
Successfully treated warts often resolve completely. However, because warts are caused by a virus, recurrence can occasionally occur and new warts may develop in the future.
Most clients heal very well following treatment, particularly when aftercare advice is followed carefully. As with any skin procedure, there is a small risk of scarring.
Generally when advanced electrolysis is used to remove a prominent wart, one treatment is sufficient. For warts and verrucae that are treated with cryotherapy, two or more session may be required depending on the size and age of the lesion ( older warts and verrucae may take several sessions to disappear).
No most warts and verrucae are very recognisable. I have a dedicated treatment slot for these, please select this when booking, the most appropriate treatment option with be discussed during your treatment appointment.
Many common warts and verrucae can be assessed and treated during the same appointment, meaning a separate consultation is not usually required. I do also advise to soak then gently file the wart/verruca with a disposable nail file 24 hours before your appointment. Treatment options will be discussed at your appointment and may include cryotherapy or advanced electrolysis depending on the type, size and location of the lesion. If you are unsure whether your skin concern is suitable for treatment, you are welcome to get in touch or send a photograph for advice before booking.
